Several years ago I visited Downieville for the first time. I remember being enchanted with the crystal clear running waters of the North Yuba River.

The Yuba made such a lasting impression on me, I even made a photo I took of the glittering river my cell phone background. I still have the same background today.
During that trip we found an epic little swimming hole. We sat on giant smooth rocks warmed by the sun, took turns jumping into the pool. Pure bliss! Every year since then at the hint of warmer weather, my mind always wanders to the river.
Fast forward several years, I moved to Downieville to help manage The Lure. I arrived in mid-August of this past year, in the heat of summer. Sure, I was excited for my new job, but what I couldn’t wait to do was to find all the possible swimming holes on the property. I made myself a promise, everyday for my first week, I would find a new spot to take a dip.

I discovered the secret swimming hole, the waterfall hole, the kiddie pool, the emerald pool, so many places for a quick swim break. The cool water is so refreshing and washes away any troubles.
Lucky for me summer stretched into September, almost daily dips became a part of days. So here I am in February, its been quite warm all month, and I’m dreaming of Summer.
