The Lure is a mountain property with variable year-round weather, including the possibility of smoke, snow, and hazardous road conditions. If The Lure Resort is open for business and not subject to government-imposed closure, there are no exceptions to this policy.
Check-In, Check-Out times
Check-in time is after 5 PM. This late check-in is temporary due to extensive COVID-19 cleaning procedures, and an earlier check-in may be available upon request. You will receive additional arrival, safety, and resort information/instructions via email one week before your arrival.
Check out time is before 11:00 AM. A late check-out will result in an additional charge of one day’s rental. Please follow all cleanliness requests upon departure, locking cabin doors, and drop keys in the office drop box.
Quiet Time
We observe a resort-wide quiet time from 10 PM to 8 AM.
Wifi
There is no guest WiFi at The Lure. What little we have is used for resort communication and emergencies.
Parking
There are two designated parking places for cabins 1 – 9. Cabins A-H have one designated parking spot. If you have more than the number of vehicles for your cabin, you will need to park on the shoulder of Highway 49, across the bridge. Our bridge has a strict 8′ wide clearance. Commercial trucks and pickup trucks with duallys must park on the shoulder of the highway as well.
Campfires
If you plan to have a campfire, NEVER leave it unattended and ensure it is completely out before leaving the area or going to bed. Fires must remain inside provided fire pits, be small, and controlled. Although surrounded by trees, our supply of wood is not unlimited. We charge $8 a bundle for camping cabin use. Firewood is provided for our communal fire pit that is shared by our housekeeping cabins. At any time, fires may be banned. Please contact hosts if you have any questions about fire safety or witness unsafe fire activity.
Cabin Cleanliness
Guests are responsible for the cleanliness of the cabins. Please make sure all food is out of the refrigerator and cupboards, take out all garbage, and wash and return all dishes before you leave. Due to COVID-19, we require guests to place all linens in the bags provided upon departure. We expect that your cabin will be left in the same condition as when you checked in. There will be an automatic charge of $150 added to your credit card if any of these guidelines are not followed.
Pets
One well-behaved pet is permitted per cabin (cabins 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 and all camping cabins). Pets must be declared at the time of booking. There is a $20/night fee for pets in our housekeeping cabins and a $10/night fee in our camping cabins. Pets must be on a leash at all times while on resort grounds. Our upper meadow is a leash-free zone. Pets are not allowed on furniture or beds. In consideration of all Lure Resort guests as well as cabin cleanliness, pets must never be left unattended anywhere on the property, including in cabins and vehicles. All dog poop must be cleaned up and placed in the dumpster. Pet owners are responsible for damage to cabins and grounds and will be charged a $150 cleaning fee if excessive damage is caused. A broom and vacuum are available in cabins for removing pet hair and debris. The next guest might not love pets, so please leave a clean cabin and pick up after them.
Trash/Recycling
Please ensure that the dumpster remains locked after disposing of garbage. Trash and recycling is a single sort in Downieville. Co-mingle your garbage and empty your trash before check-out. Do not leave any trash outside or in unlocked cars as it attracts unwanted wildlife.
Septic
The Lure Resort is on a septic system. Septic systems are fragile environments, and as a result, any objects other than toilet paper cannot be put down the toilet. NO TAMPONS, FEMININE NAPKINS, DIAPERS, DIAPER WIPES, etc. The garbage disposals in our housekeeping cabins can only handle small amounts of food matter that may be left after washing dishes. Please put all food waste, including coffee grounds, in the garbage.
Recreation
Please stay on the trails to protect our environment and yourself. Proper footwear and no bare feet are strongly recommended. Panning for gold is allowed within property boundaries, “hands n pans” only. No digging is allowed on the banks of the river along with our front lawn. Leave no trace by refilling any holes created during prospecting. Fishing is allowed. No fish cleaning is allowed in the cabins or in the communal kitchen sink by the camp bathrooms. Please keep all bikes and mountain toys outside during your stay and do not wash them inside the cabins. Don’t forget to bring your own locks. The Lure Resort is not responsible for any damages or misuse of personal equipment. Swimming is at your own risk. Always practice caution when entering the river at any time of the year. Under no circumstances should children be left unattended by or in the river.
Wildlife
The Lure Resort shares the forest with many woodland creatures. Bears do visit the resort, looking for any food they can get their hands on. Please help us prevent these visits by making sure that any food and garbage is properly stowed away at all times. DO NOT leave/store any food outside, in unlocked cars, or feed any wildlife. Practice caution when venturing out after the sun goes down.
Smoking
All cabins are non-smoking. In consideration of other guests, smoking is not permitted within 50 feet of any structure and we ask guests to use our designated smoking areas by the communal picnic table in the middle of our housekeeping cabins and in our upper meadow. Please properly dispose of all cigarette butts. There will be a $150 fee charged for smoking inside any of our cabins.
Guest Code of Conduct
We expect persons using Lure Resort facilities to behave in a mature and responsible way and respect others’ rights and dignity. Our Code of Conduct does not permit language or any action that can hurt or frighten another person or that falls below a generally accepted standard of conduct. Every attempt is made to encourage the preservation of this unique setting. All guests are expected to respect the trees, land, buildings, equipment, and each other.
